Hola church family! Today was a day full of blessings! This morning the heat wasn’t too bad as we completed a good portion of the perimeter wall and significant progress on the roofs. We all worked hard and with such purpose in our hearts after meeting the children yesterday at the orphanage.

We are so blessed in this country. This experience has been very humbling for me. Never have I seen such poverty yet such riches in people’s spirits. They have nothing yet they have so much more than what many of us have. Fulfilling love and contentment.

While at the site today, children from different homes around the worksite came down and wanted to help. Two kids, Christian and Kevin, have already establish a special place in my heart. Christian smiled from ear to ear as I presented him with a Detroit Tiger’s hat and a Kit Kat bar and said “gracias Senior Jim”. Soon there was 6 more kids all wanting to help. I was able to converse with them and learn more about them and their families. The team gave them a few soccer balls (Palotas) and we had a good time playing a few games with them. I was struck with gratitude to be able to share in this privilege of helping these kids. I told them each “Dios te bendigas” or God bless you. Each smiled and told me thank you.

Do I really have to come back home? I feel so needed here.
